Gatecoin allows users to set different types of orders to buy or sell digital assets at a given price, a record of is maintained in Gatecoin's order book. When Gatecoin's trading engine matches buy and sell offers on its order book, the platform records the trade on the Exchange Ledger, effectively transferring ownership of the seller's traded crypto assets to the buyer.
At this point only two order types are available on the platform are limit orders and market orders. Orders you place during regular operation will be executed if the market price is at a point within the limits of your order. Nevertheless, there is no guarantee that the orders are filled even if the market price was within your limit at the time such order was placed or was otherwise open.
It is important to note that limit and market orders are significantly different types of orders. Placing the wrong type of order type may cause you to lose value. Please ensure you are placing the correct order type, if uncertain make sure to read our FAQ sections. We are unable to reverse user error related transactions.
